26 Memory Maps

So, where are you from?

It’s a simple conversation starter. A one-word answer is usually enough. Which is a bit of a shame, because this question can reveal so much.

With the 26 Memory Maps project we invited members to answer “Where are you from?” in a more creative way.

We asked our volunteer writers to explore a place and time from their past by playing with a process of image-making and word-shaping.

Perhaps they would make some interesting discoveries? Not only about where they are from, but about who they used to be, and who they have become.

51 writers took up the challenge, which probably makes this the biggest 26 project ever.

It was all part of Wordstock Deconstructed. And we launched the results at an event last week, with the Bloomsbury Festival.

We’ll tell you about that wonderful evening in our November newsletter. But in the meantime…
