Job

copywriter

About me

I’m a freelance copywriter, and if I’m known for anything, it’s for making the complex simple.

I work with clients such as English Heritage, Carluccio’s, Orange/EE (since 2001), on everything from their global corporate social responsibility website to naming, and the BrandGym in Amsterdam, on client projects including the Heinz global brand manual and new brand positionings for Danone. I also work with architects, property developers and environmental engineers, and write for design events including 100% Design, Tent London, Home and Top Drawer.

What do I do? Brand positioning, tone of voice, ads, websites, marketing materials, newletters, writing workshops, straplines, press releases, vision / mission statements, articles, podcasts and awards submissions. I also blog at Looking Glass Language; tweet @wordbirdchris; and post arty shots on Instagram.

In 2012 my poem about Dylan Thomas appeared in 26 Treasures, a sumptuous book launched at the V&A, and in 2014 I took part in 26 Characters (which resulted in a book and an exhibition at The Story Museum, Oxford) and 26 Atlantic Crossings, which saw UK writers paired with visual artists in Canada and resulted in an exhibition in Canada and a book. In 2006 I collaborated with photographer Jo Vestey on ‘Encounters with Great Explorers’, a book of interviews and photographs launched at the Royal Geographical Society in Kensington.

To find out more, visit my website, or connect with me on LinkedIn. I’m always interested in new projects, so it would be great to hear from you.
