I hate jargon, I love words and I spend a lot of my time persuading people to write something that other people will enjoy reading, no matter what the context. After 37 years in the UK and 14 years as an advertising copywriter, I moved to New Zealand in 1990 and continued my career in an upside down way till 2001 when I joned Jane Berney (also a 26 member) to run NZ's one and only university adschool. I met John Simmons in 2003 at a D&AD Exchange conference and I've been a big fan of his and of 26 ever since. I'm still freelance copywriting as well as running workshops on writing for marketing departments and, occasionally, I turn out poetry and short stories. The shortest story I've ever written runs to 160 words and it was published in Flash magazine in the UK. I am exceedingly delighted about that.
